Freestanding 1-person tents

Freestanding one-person tents don't need to be anchored to the ground before use. Their stakes are only needed to tension the vestibules. Their frames have ample points of contact with the ground, and the poles tension the inner tent, reinforcing it. This type of tent is ideal if you don't know what kind of ground you'll be sleeping on. For example, for sleeping on rocks or a beach, a freestanding tent is highly recommended. They are generally easier to pitch than guyed tents.
